Atlanta Business Leader Andrew Wren Serves as "Principal For A Day" at Morningside Elementary School

ATLANTA, November 19, 2008 – Andrew Wren, president of enterprise-class video surveillance provider Wren, has led his family-owned business for more than 10 years, serving the education market’s security and operational needs. On Tuesday, October 28th he took on a different leadership position: that of principal at Morningside Elementary School.

The role reversal - from company to school leader - was part of the "Principal For A Day" (
PFAD) program through the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and Atlanta Public Schools. Now in its ninth year, PFAD provides an opportunity for "volunteer principals" to enter the Atlanta schools’ classrooms and observe a true picture of the city’s public education.

"The opportunity to work with PFAD and interact with everyone at Morningside gave me a new outlook on the full range of security challenges school leaders face," said Wren. "PFAD has not only broadened my perspective on how I can better relate to principals’ concerns, but also increased my respect and admiration for the important work they do."

Wren was one of many notable business leaders involved with all 97 Atlanta Public Schools. Other participating organizations included Merrill Lynch, Arby’s Restaurant Group, Inc., Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and the Atlanta Falcons, to name a few. In addition to spending the day as honorary principals, many "Principals For A Day" also stay in touch with their schools. Wren will provide a security assessment to Morningside and work with administrators to design a plan that solves the school’s priority security and operational challenges.

Wren’s enterprise-class video surveillance solutions are essential technological tools that empower administrators and School Resource Officers (SROs) to secure their schools. Wren also proactively works with key education associations including the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) to develop education and programs to promote safe schools. The company recently published the Wren School Security Survey: Access Control as the third in a research series designed to explore the use of access control, which was ranked after video surveillance as one of the most important security tools by SROs and administrators. The School's security blog is a resource for school administrators, pricipals, SROs and staff.
